WILDFLOWERS RETREAT

There’s something incredibly special about stepping away from your everyday routine and into a space intentionally created for both creativity and faith—and that’s exactly what this Wildflowers Catholic wedding photography retreat was for me.

As a Catholic wedding photographer, it can sometimes feel like you’re working in a niche corner of the industry. But at this retreat, I was surrounded by women from all over the country who not only understood the beauty of this calling—but lived it. We gathered as Catholic wedding photographers with a shared mission: to capture the sacred, the emotional, and the deeply meaningful moments that make up a wedding day rooted in the sacrament.

One of the highlights was our styled shoot—thoughtfully designed to reflect the reverence and elegance of a Catholic wedding day. As a Chicagoland Catholic wedding photographer, it was so inspiring to step into a new environment and photograph with fresh eyes, while still holding onto the documentary style I love. Getting to build my portfolio alongside other Catholic documentary style wedding photographers from Chicago and beyond was both creatively energizing and deeply affirming.

But beyond the cameras and curated details, what made this retreat unforgettable was the community. We prayed together, shared meals, talked about the real behind-the-scenes of running a business, and supported each other in a way that felt rare and genuine. There’s something powerful about building your business not just with strategy, but with shared faith and purpose.

We talked marketing, client experience, pricing, workflows—all the things that help us grow—but always through the lens of serving couples with intention and heart. It wasn’t competitive; it was collaborative. It was women coming together, lifting each other up, and saying, “There’s room for all of us here.”

I left feeling inspired, refreshed, and so grateful—not just for the new content and ideas, but for the friendships formed. This retreat reminded me that being a Catholic wedding photographer isn’t just about documenting a day—it’s about witnessing a sacrament, honoring a vocation, and walking alongside couples as they begin something holy.

And to do that alongside a community of women who share that same passion? That’s something truly beautiful.

With joy and gratitude,

Isabel :)
